It’s better to Overdress than Underdress!

It’s better to Overdress than Underdress!

This summer I have been enrolled in a Business Environmental Law class.  Sometimes it’s a pretty intriguing class, but other times, it just makes my head spin.  I mean it’s Business Law!  The name itself is mind boggling.  Luckily, class ends tomorrow at 5 p.m.  Unluckily, I still have to study for the final.

I have been known to find many other things to do instead of studying: sorting and washing laundry, cleaning my room, painting my nails, catching up on social media and watching TV, just to name a few.  However, for this class, I have been studying a LOT!

When it comes to studying, “it’s better to over study than under study”.  This is also my philosophy when it comes to fashion.  It is SO much better to overdress than underdress!

Have you ever walked into a room where everyone is dressed to the nines and you’re the one wearing your workout clothes and sneakers, looking like you didn’t get the memo?  Or, maybe it’s been the reverse, and you’re the one wearing the pink bunny costume, like Elle Woods, in a sea of underdressed people.  Regardless of the situation, it is ALWAYS better to overdress.

When Elle Woods realized that she was a little overdressed for the occasion, she made the best of her situation by wearing her costume with pride.  It’s that kind of pride that also makes us confident when we overdress, which in turn, makes us stand out in the crowd.  Who doesn’t love standing out?!

Sometimes overdressing doesn’t seem worth it, especially on busy days or days when you’re dragging.  I sometimes find myself wondering if it is really necessary to dress nice when I need to make a quick run into the grocery store.  However, as I stated in my last post, when it comes to school, work, social activities and just being in the public eye, fashion is key!

I, being the fashion lover that I am, get a little ruffled when I go into public places and see people in clothing that is just NOT good.  Examples I’ve seen recently include an adult wearing her swimsuit in a place where there was no pool, folks in clothes that were way too tight or too small, and even a man walking through a store with no shoes, no shirt and obviously, no problems.  This makes me wonder, did they not get the memo?

This is why I dress as if I’m going to meet someone SPECTACULAR every day.  When I run into the convenient store, go to work, attend class or spend the day watching movies with friends, I overdress.

In case you’re still not convinced, I’ve made a short list of some reasons why you should consider living each day in a fashionable way.

1) Life is too short to blend into the crowd. We are all made to be unique and stand out.  How can we do that if we don’t try to break the mold?
2) You never know who you are going to bump into.  Today might be the day that you bump into your ex, an old friend or a celebrity.  (That may be a long shot, but you never know!)  So do you want them to see you in your old painting clothes?
      3) You deserve to look your best every day.  Getting dolled up is a confidence boost, and confidence is radiant!
      4) Nothing beats that feeling of knowing you look good.  If you’ve got it, flaunt it!  That’s why I love fashion; it allows you to flaunt your curves, style and confidence, all at once.
          5) Lastly, you should overdress because you want to.  Don’t let the less fashionable get you down.  Overdress because it is what you want to do!

There is ALWAYS time for Fashion!

Welcome to my blog!  I have been inspired to start this blog with tips and ideas about my favorite thing, fashion.  I hope you find my posts to be funny, yet helpful!  So here we go!!

There is ALWAYS time for Fashion!

My fashion motto has always been “it’s better to arrive late than to arrive ugly!”  This phrase is pretty cute, but is also very true.  Being a girl who has always had an admiration for getting dolled up, I have been late for many occasions.  However, dressing up is a total confidence booster for me.  I don’t know about you, but I haven’t heard many girls in sweats or lounge-wear say “oh I feel spectacular today!”  That’s because they didn’t put in the extra effort to make themselves look their best.

I’m not saying wearing sweats around the house is a bad thing; I actually recommend it when you have no plans for the day. Although, when it comes to school, work, social activities and just being in the public eye, fashion is key!

Getting dolled up isn’t always easy, especially when it could cause you to be late!  I’ve been told, countless times, that there is just no time for dressing pretty.  Each time I think to myself of the many ways we as busy girls can make time for fashion, and confidence.  So, for my first blog entry, I wanted to list my tips for successfully styling up your day!

1) Pick out your outfits for the week the Sunday before. I always pick them out Sunday because that is my laundry day, and it’s a less hectic day. Perfect for planning!
2) Set aside some other outfits that you might like instead, in case of a fashion emergency!  Sometimes when you wake up, you just don’t like what you picked out almost a week in advance.  Having extra outfits will help you stay on time in the morning.
3) The night before, lay out your jewelry and shoes for the next day along with the outfit.
4) Also, before you go to bed, think of how you want to fix your hair for the next day.  This will help you decide when to set your alarm so you can accomplish that ballerina bun or teased bump.
5) Set an alarm, or two, or three. If you can’t wake up to the first one, like me.
6) When you wake up, give yourself a minute to really wake up.  Even if it takes away from your getting ready time, you need to really wake up to get motivated to dress up.
7) Put on your outfit and accessories before your makeup.  Nobody likes a foundation stain rubbed on their white shirt! This not only causes frustration, but also delays you. So, wait to put on your makeup until you’re dressed.
8) Fix your hair the way you planned.  Switching your hair idea for the day can be a good idea, but might also cause you to lose time. Go with your gut!
9) Put on your shoes and do a final check.  Did you forget an earring or do you have mascara clumps? Fix it while you still can!
10) Go have a confidence filled day! You deserve it!
